5.      Code of conduct

5.1          Your use of this website is at all times subject to our code of conduct. By using our website you agree to follow our code of conduct as set out below.

5.1.1      We’re welcoming – Acorn Community welcomes people of all backgrounds and identities. This includes members of any race, ethnicity, national origin, colour, social and economic class, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age, political belief and religion.

5.1.2      We’re respectful– we don’t always agree, but disagreement is no excuse for poor behaviour and manners. We all experience some frustration now and then, but we shouldn’t allow that frustration to turn into a personal attack. A community in which people feel uncomfortable or threatened is not a productive one.

5.1.3      We’re careful with the words we choose – Acorn Community is a network of professionals and we conduct ourselves as such. Be kind to others and don’t insult or put down other members. Harassment and other exclusionary behaviours aren't acceptable, this includes:

  • violent threats or language directed at another member
  • discriminatory jokes and language
  • posting offensive, sexually explicit or violent material
  • posting other members personally identifying information
  • personal insults – especially those using racist or sexist terms
  • unwelcome sexual attention
  • advocating or encouraging any of the above behaviour.

5.1.4      When we disagree, we try to understand why – Disagreements happen all the time and Acorn Community is no exception. It’s important that we resolve disagreements and differing views constructively. Remember that we’re all individuals and that the strength of Acorn Community comes from its varied membership of people from a wide range of backgrounds. Different people have different perspectives on issues, but being unable to understand why someone holds a viewpoint doesn’t mean they’re wrong. Arguing doesn’t get us anywhere and won’t allow us to learn and grow from one another.

6.       Availability of website

6.1       Although we aim to offer you the best service possible, we make no promise that our website services will be available all of the time, meet your requirements or be fault-free. If a fault occurs in the service, please report it to us at [email protected] and we’ll correct the fault as soon as we reasonably can.

6.2       Your access to the website may be occasionally restricted to allow for repairs, maintenance or the introduction of new features. We’ll restore the service as soon as we reasonably can.

7.      Privacy

12.1       If we delay exercising, or fail to exercise or enforce any right available to us under these Terms and Conditions, such delay or failure does not constitute a waiver of that right or any other rights under these Terms and Conditions.

13.       Force majeure

13.1       We won’t be liable to you for any lack of performance, or the unavailability or failure, of this website or our services, or for any failure by us to comply with these Terms and Conditions, where such lack, unavailability or failure arises from any cause reasonably beyond our control.
