We have worked collaboratively with Crossfields Institute to develop this specialist Early Years qualification. The London Steiner Kindergarten Training Company Ltd, as a lead development partner, has also provided subject expertise and content in the development of this qualification.

Who is this qualification suitable for?

This qualification is available for learners aged 18+ in England only.

What is the aim of this qualification?

The aim of this qualification is to provide the learner with the expertise, skills and professional approach needed to be a Steiner Waldorf Kindergarten Teacher and Early Years Educator (EYE), and includes classroom-based and placement hours. Learners completing this qualification may proceed directly to work in a Steiner Waldorf Early Years setting as a group leader. The qualification is also relevant to those engaged in holistic work with children such as child minders, therapists, and others working with children under seven years old both in Steiner Waldorf and mainstream settings.

This qualification has been built to meet the criteria for Early Years Educators required by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) which were developed in response to the Department for Education and NCTL’s More Great Childcare report.

About the London Steiner Kindergarten Training Company Ltd.

In 1991, the London Steiner Kindergarten Training Company Ltd. established the Steiner Waldorf early childhood studies training programme. This training led to the first DfE Full and Relevant Steiner Waldorf early childhood qualification. The London Steiner Kindergarten Training Company Ltd. approach is dedicated to providing learning and self-development opportunities which prepare learners to be self-reflective practitioners with the confidence to review their practice in the light of contemporary social needs surrounding early childhood.
Led by Steiner Waldorf early years sector experts, it aims to provide opportunities for Steiner Waldorf Kindergarten teachers of the future to develop the knowledge, understanding and skill required to meet the needs of young children in an age appropriate way.

Crossfields Institute is responsible for the ongoing delivery and centre quality assurance of this qualification. As a specialist qualification there are particular requirements which all centres must meet in order to gain approval in terms of both staff expertise and resources.
