A new updated qualification that meets the new Department for Education (DfE) early years educator (EYE) criteria will be available from 1 September 2024, draft specifications will be shared in due course.

About this qualification
The aim of this qualification is to provide the learner with the expertise, skills and professional approach needed to become a facilitator of Montessori education, and it includes classroom-based and placement hours. This qualification has been built to meet the criteria for Early Years Educators required by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) which were developed in response to the Department for Education and NCTL’s More Great Childcare report.
Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is available for learners aged 16+ in England only.
How is this qualification structured?
Learners must successfully complete all 13 mandatory units.
How is it assessed?
All units will be internally assessed using a range of assessment methods evidencing knowledge, understanding and skills.
Do you need to be working to take this qualification?
A minimum of 400 hours professional placement in an approved Montessori early years setting is required

Learners may wish to progress to the Level 4 Diploma in Montessori Pedagogy – Birth to Seven (Early Years Educator).
