Learning objectives of the sessions:

By the end of this session learners must be able to:

  • Identify what a democratic society is.
  • Examine the differences between a democratic and an authoritarian regime.
  • Compare life in Britain to life in an authoritarian state for a typical British teenager.
  • Assess the benefits of democracy.
  • Prepare a manifesto for this authoritarian state.

Some learners should be able to:

  • Evaluate two articles to inform an education timeline.

 

Some learners could be able to:

  • Examine reasons why the government of authoritarian state might place such restrictions on their people.
