External Quality Assurance
When learners are registered on to one of our units or qualifications, we’ll allocate an External Quality Assurer to support you with the delivery of our qualifications.
Your learners should be registered with us as soon as possible. The sooner you register, the sooner we’ll provide you with your External Quality Assurer!
By reviewing your internal assessment and quality assurance systems and processes, our External Quality Assurers ensure that you’re continuing to meet our quality standards. They’ll come and visit you up to twice a session for each Quality Assurance (QA) group your qualifications fall in to. Your EQA will also provide you with guidance and feedback.
You can pay for additional visits if you require.
All NCFE and CACHE qualifications will sit within the following 10 QA groups:
- Arts and Media
- Business, IT and Sales
- Engineering and Manufacturing Operations
- Health, Childcare & Education
- Hospitality and Catering
- Music and Performance
- Preparation for Life and Work
- Retail and Commercial Enterprise
- Sport, Exercise and Fitness
- Travel and Tourism
For information on which qualifications fall within each group, please see the 2018-2019 Quality Assurance Sectors Guidance Document.
Our 10 Easy Steps to External Quality Assurance gives a step by step guide to external quality assurance.
During the external quality assurance visit, your External Quality Assurer will sample a range of learner portfolios from the qualifications you deliver in each QA Group above.
Direct Claim Status (DCS) allows you to claim certificates on demand instead of us requiring the certificate claim to be signed off by the External Quality Assurer. Direct Claim Status arrangements apply to both qualifications and units.
We really value centre feedback and an external quality assurance visit is a great opportunity for you to tell us what you think of the product. All feedback will inform product evaluation and help our Product Development team ensure the product is meeting its intended purpose.
Prior to an external quality assurance visit, please complete the following forms and return this to your External Quality Assurer:
Request a Support Visit from your External Quality Assurer
A support visit may be requested when a centre is running a qualification for the first time and would like additional guidance on how to run, assess and quality assure the programme.
Additional External Quality Assurance Request
An additional external quality assurance can be requested once you’ve used up your 2 free external quality assurance for the session
Cancelling a Planned Visit
External Quality Assurance visits are a very important part of our quality assurance process, and as such should go ahead as planned where possible.
