Functional Skills Delivery Day
We’ll be hosting a series of Functional Skills Training Events which are aimed at teachers, practitioners and assessors delivering English and Mathematics within their organisations.
The training will be a great chance to meet with subject experts and like-minded practitioners to expand on your knowledge and understanding of the qualifications.
The training day will cover topics such as:
- reviewing sample questions for the new qualifications as well as the structure of assessments through the use of standardisation
- Speaking, Listening and Communication including how to contextualise an assessment
- sharing good practice with fellow practitioners as well as investigating NCFE resources
- delivering English and maths using effective planning, teaching and intervention resources.
The Delivery Days are a full day event running from 9.00am to 3.00pm and encourage active participation. A full agenda and confirmation of dates/venues will be published closer to the event date. However, if you'd like more information in the meantime please email: [email protected]
All delegates will receive a CPD credential to recognise their attendance and development at the event.
Facilitators - Helen Scanlan and Patricia Devlin (Curriculum Officers for Functional Skills)

Maths & English North East Collaboration Group
NCFE have long valued the importance of sharing good practice and working in collaboration with fellow practitioners. With the rising challenges faced in the maths and English sector NCFE wanted to facilitate a collaboration of likeminded practitioners operating in the North East that is open to all, regardless of what sector you work in or which Awarding Organisation you align with. The purpose of these events is: To maximise the impact of maths & English delivery across a wide range of sectors. We will look to have a collaboration of practitioners who deliver in maths & English sharing innovative, dynamic and effective ideas around delivery in support of these subjects. This is the first of these kind of events and should this go well we will look to put these on at regular intervals, inviting guest speakers and trainers to help support the delegates in their delivery aims. These events will be free and we will supply food and drink on the day.
Please note that this event has been cancelled until further notice due to the current situation surrounding COVID-19.
